  • Conclusion

  • Conclusion

Dan Shaver, from the IBM i2 product support team, takes us through the various options available to you when working with i2 Analyst's Notebook charts, and storing them within your i2 Analyze or i2 Enterprise Insights Analysis Information Store.

In this video, the IBM i2 product support team shows us the difference between an i2 iBase installation with and without the Cyber IP DNS Feature present.

This video explains how to translate all or part of the IBM i2 iBase 9 software. Some new features of iBase 9 have not yet gone through the IBM translation process. You can use this video to translate iBase into your own language if your language is not one of the 12 available (English, Arabic, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Czech, Japanese, German and Portuguese-Brazilian). This translation process can be done manually, but we recommend using an automatic online translation tool.

This video introduces the IBM i2 iBase 9 Advanced Subsets, which is one of the new features of iBase 9. In this video, you’ll learn what are the prerequisites for the iBase 9 Advanced Subsets, including:

  • The master DB must be in SQL Server format
  • The Security file must also be in SQL Server format
  • The Soft Delete must be enabled

The Advanced subsets can hold up to 5 million records. They are stored in an SQL Server format. You can enable Search 360 and the Alerts for the Advanced Subsets. The Record History and Auditing are maintained across Master and Subsets databases.

This video shows how to create IBM i2 iBase 9 Advanced Subsets, which is one of the new features of iBase 9.

In this video, you’ll learn the steps to create iBase 9 Advanced Subsets, including:

  • Define Subset definitions (using Queries and/or Sets)
  • Provide a name for the Advanced Subset, specify the target SQL Server
  • Specify the destination folder and the subset identifier

Please note that only users that have the “Create database” roles in iBase Security can create an iBase subset.
Warning : you must not change the schema of the database subset, or synchronization will not be possible anymore.

This video presents 3 new features of the IBM i2 iBase 9 software.
When working on an SQL Server format iBase, you can now add 3 metadata items for each field for the Entities and Links:

  • Field Attachments
  • Field Confidence
  • Field Security
Each of these Field metadata items can be enabled and disabled independently in your iBase database.  This is done in iBase Designer. Field Security adds an SCC pick list to each field (you must have defined an SCC pick list first, and you must have defined Red Keys groups in iBase Designer).
  • The Field Confidence adds a confidence value to each field. This allows you to specify the level of Confidence you have in the value of one field.
  • Field Attachments allows you to attach a file (any file type) to a field.
  • For Field Security, the overall SCC value for the record is set by the most restrictive field level SCC value.

This video presents a new feature of the IBM i2 iBase 9 software. You can now merge links between 2 entities.

The links you want to merge must:

  • Have the same Entities as ends
  • Be of the same Link type

You must then select the link that will be the target for the merged links, and of course, you must select the links that you want to merge into this target link.

Important: Once merged, you cannot unmerged the links.

  3. Modifier la base de registre :
    1. Créer la clé HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\PersistentHandler
    2. Lui donner la valeur {1AA9BF05-9A97-48C1-BA28-D9DCE795E93C}

This video will explain one new feature of the IBM i2 Audit Viewer 9 software.

This feature allows you to add an extra level of filtering on the Audit Viewer software. You can now filter the results on records that belong to one or several Sets (the Sets are defined in iBase User). For example, you can ask for “Give me all the Log entries between this date and this date, from this user, with the records belonging to the Sets S1 and S2.”

This new “Set membership” feature can also work with the new Save Filters function of IBM i2 Audit Viewer 9.

This video will explain how you can create Audit Log Journal Entries in IBM i2 iBase 9 and IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook V9.2.2. This feature is only available if the iBase database has an Audit level of at least 3.

From iBase, or from ANB, you can now create Audit Log Journal Entries. These are small text fields that, for example, will allow you to record what you are working on, or if you have some valuable information that relates to the use of the iBase database. The Journal entries can then be read in the IBM i2 Audit Viewer software. In this same software, you can also enter new journal entries.

This video will explain how to use one new feature of IBM i2 iBase 9.

This feature allows you to convert a "Find" into either a “Create Entity” or a “Create Query”. Before creating a new Entity record, it is advisable to start by checking if this entity already exists or not in the Database. To do so, you’ll use the Find function of iBase to check if this record already exists. If it does not exist, you now don’t need to close the Find window and open the Create Entity record to retype everything. You can simply click on the “Create Entity” button at the bottom-left of the Find window. This will open a new window, with the fields pre-filled with the valued you used for the Find. If you don’t want to create a record, you can transform the Find into a visual Query in iBase, by clicking on the “Create Query” button.

This new iBase 9 feature will speed up your workflow when entering data.

This video will explain how to use the Revert feature in IBM i2 iBase 9.

This feature is only available if you are using an SQL Server iBase format database or you enable the Audit History feature (in iBase Designer, Database properties)

The Revert function allows you to visualize the different versions of a record (Entity or Link), see the changes, and then choose to revert the record to one of the previous versions. This might be useful if, for example you made a mistake, and the wrong changes were saved.

This video will explain how to create composite indexes in the IBM i2 iBase 9 software.

  • Part 1 explains what composite indexes are.
  • Part 2 explains why creating composite indexes in iBase 9 can help speeding up imports.
  • Part 3 shows an example of creating a composite index using the “Suggestions” button. This will create composite indexes based on Import Specifications, and more specifically, based on fields that are defined as Identifiers in the Import Specification.
  • Part 4 shows how to manually create a composite index that does not rely on an import specification.
  • Part 5 shows another example of manually creating a composite index, based on the Discriminator fields of one Link type.

Important: The Composite Indexes is mainly useful when you have more than one discriminator fields in one Entity or Link type.

This video will explain how you can now save the Filters you define in the IBM i2 Audit Viewer 9 software.

In the IBM i2 Audit Viewer, you can specify filters to only see the Logs that interest you.  You can filter by dates, times, actions, user, record, and so forth.

In this new release of the IBM i2 Audit Viewer, you can now save the filters you define, so that you can easily recall them, without having to redefine them from scratch each time.

Depending on how your system administrator has configured Analyst's Notebook, you might have a number of rules that are available as defaults. You can activate or deactivate these rules but you cannot amend them. This course show you how to create and edit your own rules.

Match rules consist of:
  • A name and description.
  • An entity type, for example a Person.
  • The property or properties to use in setting conditions, such as Last Name.
  • An operator that sets the kind of comparison for the match, such as Exact match.
  • Refinements to ignore particular characters and white space, if required.
  • The minimum conditions that must be met to report a match.

For example, in your data the combination of Passport Number and Date of Birth, or Last Name might provide strong evidence of a Person match. You can create a rule that tells Analyst's Notebook to identify the records on the chart with the same values for these properties. The example match rule would be:

  • Entity type = Person
  • Match all:
    • Property type = Passport Number
    • Operator = Exact match
  • Match any:
    • Property type = Last Name
    • Operator = Exact match
    • Property type = Date of Birth
    • Operator = Exact match
Duration: 20 minutes

  • SELECT DN_NAME(dbid) as DBName, program_name, hostoname, nt_username, loginame
  • FROM sys.sysprocesses
  • WHERE DN_NAME(dbid) not in (‘master', ‘msdb‘, ‘tempdb‘)
  • AND DN_NAME(dbid) not like ‘%_Log‘

  • Find Networks

Duration: 10 minutes

i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis (EIA) is an enterprise intelligence analysis solution that facilitates information sharing and intelligence production. This course will walk students through an example implementation on how data from an external source, in this case QRadar,  data can be extracted, transformed, and loaded in the i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis (EIA).

This course is intended for users who want to programmatically extract data on-demand from the QRadar ariel database and add it to the i2 EIA Information Store.

This course is a set of videos that provide an overview of ways to find a network within an i2 Analyst's Notebook chart.

The topics for the three videos in this course are:

  • Calculate Binding Strength
  • Find Clusters
  • Find Connecting Network

i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis (EIA) is an enterprise intelligence analysis solution that facilitates information sharing and intelligence production. This course will cover the deployment of an EIA product, specifically the process of updating and deploying a custom schema.

You will also learn how to edit or update an existing schema using the Schema Designer. This course will also walk you through the process of ingesting data in the EIA Information Store from an external data source.

Data that is stored within IBM i2 Analyze is secured on a need to know basis. The security model allows you to determine the type of access groups of users will get.

  • Security Dimensions
A security dimension is a way to categorize an i2 Analyze item, with the aim of using its categorization to determine what rights users receive. The security dimensions for any deployment of the platform are defined in the security schema for that deployment.

  • Security Levels
A security level is a description of what a user is allowed to do to an item in i2 Analyze. User group membership determines what security level a user receives for any particular item.

  • Security Permissions
In i2 Analyze, security permissions provide the link between the security dimension values that an item has, and the security levels that users receive. The platform calculates the access and grant rights of users according to the permissions of the user groups to which they belong.

Data that is stored within IBM i2 Analyze is secured on a need to know basis. The security model allows you to determine the type of access groups of users will get.

An IBM i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis (EIA) system comprises of a number of components that you must configure before data can be ingested. Staging tables have to be created and mapping files will need to be defined in order to ingested data into the Information Store. EIA comes with example files and data to assist with these tasks as well as ingestion commands to get data into the Information Store.

This is a standalone lab, that will walk you through exercises needed to manually import data into iBase and search for that data via the Base Connector.

These videos provide you with an introduction to merging entities and links, and, combining attributes.

  • It is useful to merge entities when you identify two or more entities on your chart that represent the same real-world object. For example, you might incorporate data into your chart from a source that uses different naming conventions or you might discover that several people on your chart are the same person with different aliases.
  • It is useful to merge links when you have several links between two entities that represent a number of events and you want to represent them as a single link. For example, you might want to represent several transactions from one bank account to another as a single link that indicates the total amount that is transferred.
  • in the case of attributes, if you add data from two data sources, the different sources might use different attribute classes to denote the same information. You can combine these two classes into a single attribute class.
  • This course presents a series of videos dealing with data duplication on IBM Analyst's Notebook chart. The ways to resolve or working with the data duplication is using one of the many options within the i2 Analyst's Notebook application. These topics describe the following:

    • Provides the three kinds of duplicate data and how you might choose to resolve the duplication.
    • Describes how to handle the duplicate data when it is imported into i2 Analyst's Notebook.
    • Use the Find Matching Entities option,  which essentially means Fund Duplicate Entities in i2 Analyst's Notebook. The video describes how to use the Find Matching Entities option.
    • Describes how to use Smart Matching within i2 Analyst's Notebook to find matches in the data.
    • Provides an example of how to use the Smart Matching Against Selection option when searching for matching data.
    • Introduces using the Previously Linked Matches option to retrieve all the matches you previously found and linked.
    • Describes how to exclude two or more entities that are not duplicates. This prevents those matches from occurring in future Find Matching Entities searches.

This video will discuss semantic types and the role they play in searching and analysis in Analyst’s Notebook.

The two videos provide a walk-through on:

    • how to create a SQL view to import into IBM i2 iBase, and
    • how to import the SQL view into IBM i2 iBase

In this video, you will learn how to move and restore an iBase SQL database from one server to another server. You will be using the IBM i2 iBase Designer to perform this move and restore.

As part of an IBM i2 Analyze deployment, an iBase connector provides a mechanism for providing users with access to an IBM i2 iBase database. The database becomes available in the Intelligence Portal as a data source that users can select and interact with.

There are two reasons for integrating iBase with a deployment of i2 Analyze. One reason is that you already have an iBase deployment, and you want to retain your data and your data model as you upgrade or migrate to i2 Analyze. The other reason is that you already have a deployment of i2 Analyze 4.1, and you want to use iBase as a way to ingest data from other data sources.

Note: This is an online, interactive lab. You will download and follow the lab guide using the associated elab. The elab will be available for 4 hours of runtime so be sure to set aside enough time to complete the lab in one setting. You will only have access to the lab for a 5 day period from when you start the lab.
